Allow me to break first
while I try to break this down
the death of my friends is on his hands
and I’m asked to kneel on the ground?
Dear God I've been crossing my fingers
to pay you back for what you've done to man
and if this world is built in your image, then
I'll stand in the way of your big big plan.
He's putting my friends in the ground:
dead skin cells.
Ascend the stairs
to an empty throne.
Allow me to break this spell,
to put it to bed right now
your king is a deadman.
The king is dead.
It eats away like a cancer inside your soul;
the looming dread of losing the ones you hold
close to your heart, your mind, your body and soul.
Another day, another chance to be left alone – or worse.
It’s bullshit.
So don't mourn the man whose exit gives respite from pain.
He’s dodged the hells of losses that you still await.
Amassing losses, it’s so easy to give up the fight.
But for those yet left, it’s our job to preserve the light
Respect life…do you know what I mean?
Over time, we set a precedent,
and in time it’s washed away.
We fall in line among kings and presidents,
as all in time, all will decay.
In a lifetime foundations crumble
and over centuries turn to dust.
No human voice will ever speak our names again,
as all will end, this we can trust.
Dead weight.
In 100 years/all in time/you can trust...
we'll be dead in the dirt.
This curse we've all but closed our eyes to -
that's taken down the best of men -
I take as comfort that when I fuck up
all my mistakes will be forgotten in the end.
But as for now I'll do my god damn best
to live the life I have to live.
The pain comes daily but at least I still exist.
And when I'm dead, I'll be good and done with it.
Our time’s passed, we're past due, soon to pass away.
It goes fast, but I'm here now. I’m still here today.
I'll take mine all in time. I'm on the way
straight towards death, but hear this: I’ll do it my way.
What are you wasting?
Are you wasting time?
Are you wasting life?
